S7 / E7: Igniting your spark

Hello and welcome to the Wildheart Podcast, a series of conversations for those seeking the wild within. Join us as we rewild words, concepts and ideas…

In today’s episode we chat about igniting your spark, and what a rewilded version of the word ‘spark’ might look like.

Why ‘spark’ feels relevant right now

  • It connects to the fire element and solar energy of summer

  • Leo season begins in a few days, and Leo is a fire sign - ‘the star’

  • A spark (whatever this might mean for you - energy, motivation, joy…) feels needed in terms of how the season/world feels at the moment

What ‘spark’ actually means

  • To initiate, incite, trigger - a catalyst

  • Possibility and potential - the starting point, the seed

  • Vitality, aliveness, energy, passion

  • Burning, flashing - some kind of urgency?

How we talk about a ‘spark’ at the Academy

  • All of the above!

  • Very much connected to the fire element

  • Symbolic imagery of rewilding the self as tending to a fire - nurturing an ember that has perhaps almost burnt out, breathing it back into life, feeling it become a spark, feeding that spark with kindling (wild wisdom) and experiencing that spark burn more and more brightly until it becomes flame

How rewilding the word ‘spark’ can have an impact

  • It can help us to tap into feelings of passion, excitement, energy, aliveness - an antidote to burnout / a way of re-fuelling
